New COO Brings Businesses Into The Next Era Of Digital Marketing

We at Candybox are thrilled to welcome Derek Joynt as the newest member of our team. He has come on board in the capacity of Chief Operating Officer, bringing with him a plethora of experiences in the field of marketing.   

 

As an academic with degrees in Business, Sports Administration, and Marketing Communication Management, Derek could have pursued a completely different career path than digital marketing. But his undergraduate experience as an entertainment programmer gave him a glimpse into the dynamic event industry, laying the foundation for his future career in marketing and consumer promotions. When the opportunities came, he started working as a Marketing Manager and Director of Marketing for tier-one companies like PepsiCo, Cadbury Schweppes (now Keurig Dr. Pepper) and Walmart. 

 

Throughout the years, he has gained significant insights in various fields, shaping him into a veteran marketing professional with over 20 years of experience in retail and marketing. Just as he was deciding between retiring early and continuing to work in the marketing industry, he was introduced to Darrell Keezer, our CEO, through mutual connections, which led him to join Candybox.

 

 

Derek joining Candybox marks a major milestone for us; he leverages a valuable combination of agency, retail and market-leading Tier 1 client experience that results in stronger strategic plans, more effective brand building, and the development of sustainable innovation. To be Canada’s premier digital marketing agency, it is crucial for us to create recipes for success, but it is equally important that we also learn from mistakes – both ours and others – and that’s exactly what Derek can bring to the table: everything he has observed throughout the years working in different companies, whether it is something he thinks can be improved upon or something worthy enough to be brought over to Candybox.

His aspiration to grow as a company also echoes ours.
