Inbound Marketing less expensive than Outbound Marketing Stats

There was a great article today on eMarketer.com about the value of Inbound Marketing. We wanted to share the article with you all and to summarize a few of the key points to the article.

Highlights from this article:

  • Measuring the ROI of social media is still difficult
  • Research is showing that companies continue to successfully capture leads and sales through social media channels and other inbound marketing strategies
  • Inbound Marketing strategies are 62% less expensive than outbound strategies
  • Outbound Marketing strategies are getting more expensive to acquire leads.
  • From 2010 to 2011, the average cost per lead using outbound strategies increased by $41 from $332 to $373.
  • In 2011, companies will increase the amount of money they spend on social media.
  • Facebook is the most effective inbound marketing channel for B2C.
  • In 2011, Inbound Marketing efforts will focus on SEO but the 2nd largest budget item will be social media.

As you continue to consider how to use Inbound Marketing channels for your business, think about how you are interacting with other brands as a consumer or as a business.

  1. Are you shopping the same way that you did 2 years ago? 5 years ago?
  2. What are you doing with Google, Facebook and other web-based avenues to determine products you will purchase and services that you will acquire?
  3. When you need to find a service provider, what is the first thing that you do?

If you are answering these questions with all Internet-based answers like Google, Bing, Facebook and others, then you are a great example of how consumers and businesses alike have changed they way they seek out information and then find products and services to purchase.

If you have changed your style, it is safe to assume that your customers have changed their approach too. So, it begs the question, Has your website and web-presence changed too? Is it designed to Attract, Engage and Convert targeted prospects who are actively looking for your product and service?
