Google Analytics Upgrade – Track more Goals!

20 10 2009

Google Analytics has always had a very handy tool of tracking Event Based goals.

This would allow users to customize Google Analytics to track whenever a certain page is reached on a site that equals a certain value, for example, a /thankyou.html page if someone submits an order. This can be used to measure Campaign effectiveness by tracing all Goals back to their original source (Adwords, Affiliate or alike).

Before now, Google only allowed users to track 4 Goals under a single profile. This made it difficult for advertisers to track multiple lead channels that usually exceed 4 paths and would warrent a new profile.

Today Google announced that all Google Analytics accounts can now track up to 20 goals per profile! This will allow less profiles to be made & easier tracking all in one place. They have also added the ability to measure goals by Time on Site, or even # of pages visited.

Paid Advertising on Facebook – Amazing Targeting!

25 09 2009

Advertising on Facebook is not only cost effective for small businesses, but extremely targeted! Facebook allows you to target based on Demographics, sociographics, geographics, marital status (including engaged), group associations and interests! If that's not enough, their interests also link into their actual profession in their profile, so you can be as specific as targeting Business Owners, CEO's and VP's of large organizations.

The major difference in Facebook Ads and our most commonly used Google Adwords, is that it is within the category of interruption marketing. People who are actively searching on Google for a product or service will have a much higher conversion rate than someone who casually noticed the ad and checked out the site. In our experience, Google Search traffic has more often provided our clients with a higher conversion rate, but it can also cost up to 10 times more…

Depending on what you are targeting and your type of business, Facebook may or may not be the solution for your company, but it is worth a peek! We have been managing major Facebook Campaigns for large enterprises with incredible results in this past year and have learned the in & outs of this new platform. Interested in finding out more? Give us a shout and tell us about your business!

Local Searches on Google

21 09 2009

Over the past year Google has been displaying their local Google Maps results in the search results. This tactic has brought more relevancy to the searcher trying to find a local pizza store, and even more opportunities to advertisers.

A typical Yellow Pages full page ad will cost upwards of $40,000 / year +, given the industry and competition. But who uses that 2.5 lb outdated book anymore?! Recycling plants are having a huge influx of new Yellow Pages / Canpages books whenever there is a new book delivery for one simple reason, it's not being used.  Why find the book in the front hall closet, when in you can search Google in seconds, or even use the Local Business search on your iPhone using the GPS locator?

Gone are the days where naming your company AAA Auto Dealers was a competitive advantage, because no one is looking in the alphabetical yellow book anymore. Being at the top of Google for local searches (eg / auto dealers in Tornoto)is the new AAA marketing tactic that only a few companies are noticing.

Our company has quickly moved small companies / SMB to the top of Google Local map results within weeks, resulting in an overwhelming increase of website traffic and lead generation.

Are you at the top yet? Give us a shout, we'll pull you up!

Traffic Jam Vs. Goal Freeway

14 03 2009

Don't be fooled by companies that can increase traffic to your site. At the end of the day, you may be faced with a 100%+ increase of traffic and nothing to show for it. If you make money from increasing simple page hits thats great, but to everyone else, this traffic will be unprofitable noise.

At Candybox Marketing, we focus on creating a Goal Freeway for companies wishing to convert meaningful traffic into hard dollars. A Goal is a set of actions that equates to value for your company in some form. This could be completing an online order, filling out a form to be contacted, or signing up for your monthly service.

Our Goal Analysis is completed by taking a 'Soup-to-Nuts' approach to every project, starting from the business objective ("We want to sell Magazines to Wineries"), through the website development process and finishing off with targeted online advertising.

We believe that where you are bringing your traffic is more important than how they got there. This means we don't care about volumes, unless the volumes are met by a compelling offering, great user experience and most importantly, an easy way to respond.

Let us help you build your own Goal Freeway.

The Photographer Project

26 02 2009

Candybox Marketing would like to introduce 'The Photographer Project' as a test for Local Lead Generation marketing. Recently we were doing some research on the Photography industry in North America and we found out that Oakville, Ontario has one of the highest amount of searches performed, looking for photographers. As much as this is an interesting fact, it is also a huge opportunity for whoever is on the top of Google's search for 'Oakville Photographer'.

Therefore, we are pleased to announce the launch of www.Oakville-Photographer.com. A website setup on February 21st for the primary purpose of generating leads for photographers that will be used to distribute to local agents in the industry. After launching the site, we received one customer inquiry and an affiliate phone call within 12 hours of launching the site. The site is going to be updated this week some designs, but we wanted to get something up to start getting indexed by Google.

We will keep you posted on the progress!

Launching Lovely Loft Listings

11 02 2009

Over the past few months, I have suffered from chronic headaches by surfing through Real Estate Websites on Google. The majority of sites are confusing, cheap, full of hundreds of links and littered with pictures of real estate agents.

Today, I am pleased to announce the launch of one of our very own sites that offers visitors the ability to select the area of interest and obtain a free (Toronto) loft report without users having to go through meaningless clickthroughs and confusion.

Searching is Seasonal

31 12 2008

Wonder why your site traffic has dipped? Not to worry, searching is a seasonal activity. Anyone would agree that searches for 'snow shoes' would be down during the summer months, but what about other generic searches? A lot of search activities in the market today can take a down turn during holidays, such as Christmas, because people are off work and staying away from anything that could remind them of work.

Take the Marketing Industry. This graph below shows the amount of searches that contained the word 'marketing' over the past 5 years. The statistics show a trend of this search bottoming out during December of each year. This could because of the holiday season, or that most companies have completed their advertising spend by this point and are not looking for anything new.

This should be kept in mind when tracking your Analytics and campaign affectiveness.

Finally! Google Adwords iPhone Opt-In

17 12 2008

Google Adwords used to have search ads seen on your computer and what they called 'Mobile Ads'. Now they have the option for ANY search ads to be able to opt-into iPhone search results. This is made possible by tracking the browser information coming off of an iPhone.

For most businesses this is great news, but for experienced SEM advertisers, it is about time. Not being able to advertise on iPhone browsers before was a major roadblock in SEM, and cost companies a lot of money investing in mobile-only ads targeted to the iPhone.
