Market Faster

29 01 2009

Companies now have the difficult task of obtaining new clients, coming out with new services and getting better results; with less money then last year. During hard economic times, quarterly losses because of lack of new customers cannot be tolerated. As credit is becoming scarce, companies need to market faster, better and produce better results than before.

Below are a list of advertising mediums that any company may choose to implement to bring their product or service to market. But accompaning these mediums are average timelines in which it takes to get into the hands of consumers.

TV Advertisement: 4 Months

Radio Advertisement: 2 Months

Direct Mail: 3 Weeks

Newspaper Ad: 1.5 Weeks

Online Ad (Facebook, Google): 1 Day

Secondly, we need to also consider response lag. This considers the average time it takes for a prospect to see an advertisement and respond to it. Using traditional mediums (TV, Direct Mail etc), this can take anywhere from hours to weeks before a customer finally responds. Using Online Ads however, the response is usually withing 30-60 seconds.

Does your business have time to 'get to market slowly'?

Watch your Widgets

21 01 2009

Website Widgets are gaining popularity online as fast as they are becoming annoying. Building out a multi-function site use to be a costly procedure, but can now be accomplished in minutes by an Administrator using 'Do-it-yourself' web tools.

A common real estate agent can now have a mortgage calculator, Stock ticker, Weather bug, Tell a Friend link, Email Newsletter signup (that never gets used) and egg timer all within minutes! Widgets have been cluttering up what could be a good offering and repelling visitors. This could result in a low conversion rate on a website and waste precious marketing dollars and exposure.

Make sure when considering your next Widget if your target market really needs that service on your site. A mortgage broker may want a mortgage calculator, but them installing a weather report on the other hand could potentially make the entire website look cheap!

Focus on Video Advertisments in 2009

12 01 2009

The Marketer's whiteboard has a new advertising medium on it this year; online video advertisements. A 'nice-to-have' of two years ago has taken the centre stage as video advertisements have brought in the most success stories of 2008 within the online space.

eMarketer.com polled marketing managers on what their focus was going to be for 2009, and video ads brought in an overwhelming 66.8%. Notably, this doesn't mean that budgets have shifted this drastically, but an increased focus will begin a new breed of online marketers.

As Marketers realize this new vehicle has lots of new gadgets, tricks and hurdles, there will be an increased demand for Video Ad Implementations and Video Campaign Management. In response to this growing trend, Candybox Marketing has setup local Videographers in cities including Toronto, Vancouver and New York to quickly launch new ad programs. Top Ten Keyword Strategies

8 01 2009

Various keyword strategies can bring you from ZERO to HERO if followed properly. Candybox Marketing's most recent success in Search Engine Optimization has been attributed to properly implementing these strategies. They have been organized in Priority sequence:

Top Ten Keyword Strategies in priority sequence:

1. Keywords in Title <Title> Tags

2. Keywords in URL:

For Example:

instead of http://www.candyboxmarketing.com/=?p32/?

3. Keyword density in page content. Making sure that top 3 keywords are in between 7-9% of page content.

4. Keywords in Anchor text (within images).

5. Proper heading tags <H1>, <H2> used.

6. Keywords at the beginning of the document. Don't wait until after 50% of your content to start speaking about the content.

7. Keyword proximity; keeping the keywords together rather than far apart from one another. Example:

Here are our Top Ten Keyword Strategies for our article. Rather than…

We have ten of our strategies in this article. The keywords used are below for our top methods.

8. Keywords in META tags. Notice that this is not #1, this is simply to confirm your content with search engines.

9. Keyword Phrases instead of individual words. Instead of talking about 'Keywords' in this article, we are speaking about 'Keywords Strategies'. This is a more focused approach to traffic.

10. Using Keyword Synonyms. Search engines are smart enough to associate synonyms within your keywords. Using similar keywords will confirm their findings.

Obviously, the modern day web-designer cannot keep this in mind while building websites, so this needs to be coordinated with SEO specialists. As always, we can help.

Google’s Picasa app. gaining popularity; and your information

6 01 2009

Google just recently introduced Google's Photo Application (and video, slideshow, organization, editing etc etc) for Macintosh users. You may be asking yourself, why is Google investing in building Free software for organizing my photos? Good question.

Picasa's ease of use comes with helpful tools to organize and document (Tag) your photos and movies. By letting you quickly enter information onto these pictures gives Google the opportunity to use this later on. Being integrated with their Web Albums feature this is leaving the door open for Picasa to being the next Facebook. Collecting information about your travels, habits, demographics and lifestyles, this will lend itself to social-graphic profiling down the road.

Google is quite aware that Adwords has limitations when it comes to searches, sometimes only knowing the local area of the searcher and their keywords, which is why Facebook Ads has been gaining popularity over the past year. Facebook knows the precise demographics and behavior of it's viewers which Marketers can use to perform better targeting.

Imagine a vacation rentals company being able to target web-users who have had four picture albums with the words 'Florida Vacation' in it for the past four years. Let's see what Google does…
